A Flag for Jackson

I can remember Rep. Phil Haire fretting about Jackson County’s seal some years ago, and now, from Gulahiyi over at Ruminations from the Distant Hills, we learn that Jackson County manager Ken Westmoreland has asked Jon Jicha’s classes at WCU to develop a design for a county flag.

Seems to me that the county seal has an antiquated charm, although I’m not sure it’s much suited to flag use. The county has never had a flag, but it needs one for a state hoo-haa of some sort. Gulahiyi is worried that the painters in Western’s school of art will get involved and Pollack the thing up, but since Jicha is in graphic design, there might be hope yet.
