ASHEVILLE/REGIONAL–The southern mountains’ daily paper of note is struggling mightily, as is its mothership, Gannett. We’ve written about it here, here and here.

Blogger Ashvegas, a longtime staffer at the AC-T who has ties a’plenty over there, writes today that the recent round of cuts have taken 16 jobs. Many of those who lost their jobs (Ashvegas names them) are over 45 or nearing retirement.

Ashvegas also takes the paper to task for not reporting on the layoffs, or the massive nationwide cuts by Gannett that precipitated them.
