Opinion: Sylva Herald goes to bat for countywide middle school athletics teams
by Bill Graham ~ November 14th, 2008. Filed under: Education, Sports.
SYLVA-Jackson County’s school system is organized so that there are, instead of middle schools, four kindergarten through eighth-grade feeder schools, and two high schools. As it stands, each of these schools fields junior high sports teams, which compete against each other.
Now, the county school board is considering the combination of the schools into a unified Jackson County middle school athletics program, to compete regionally.
The Sylva Herald likes the idea.
